Done Mary Poppins won't work for minimum wage By Katie Lobosco 7 hours ago 0 shares Done You'd think magical powers would entitle Mary Poppins to more than $7.25 an hour. But in a parody from Funny or Die, the Disney character (played by Kristin Bell) is quitting her job because that's all the Banks family will pay her. She struggles to make ends meet while making $7.25, the federal minimum wage, pleading for a $3 raise. "In every job that must be done, you must be paid in more than fun," she sings, a play on an original Mary Poppins song. Related: LA hotel workers could get highest minimum wage in the U.S.

But the boys, and their parents, have used raffles and other methods to make a dent in the thousands needed. "We've had several fundraisers at Sam's where they boys stood outside and shook a can for donations, said team mom Malinda Schexnayder. That was the biggest part of our fundraiser and the money we earned was about $3,000 through that." While the team is working hard to get ready for Orlando, they're hoping the community steps up to the plate even more to help them get there. Schexnayder said, "I've seen many people post on Facebook the GoFundMe and I thought we would try it out just to see where we got. So far, we've gotten $140 but we need a lot more." Both the kids and coaches are hoping the trip, if they can take it, will make them better players and give them lasting memories. "So we can experience the challenge and the heart that it takes to win a big tournament," said Hakenjos. The group is trying to raise $2,000 in the next month. You can call yourself a global brand, but if you only have one office and one set of resources to support these global partnerships, its really hard to position yourself as a global brand. We needed to walk the walk a little bit. As a former Senior Vice President of Sales with Madison Square Garden, Barror had previously worked with CAA Sports on the naming rights and foundation level deals with the newly renovated arena. Through that positive experience and the cultivation of various business relationships, Barror and his front-office colleagues at Roma felt the partnership with CAA was ano-brainer. CAA Sports will assist Roma with the naming rights of its new 52,000-seat stadium complex, which is set to open for the 2016-17 season, but also, with strategically finding the right brands to align with in the future. We just felt like having a third party working alongside our internal resources was the best way to create a market for the big partnerships that we needed to bring in, said Barror of the new relationship. CAA has proven over the course of the last 5-7 years that they are one of the best in the business. Additionally, in 2012, Roma signed a multi-year agreement with Disney Sports to become the sports complexs official professional soccer club. The relationship only adds to the strategy of further reaching the youth more information soccer fan in the States. As the 2014 FIFA World Cup recently concluded and with the healthy state of Major League Soccer in the U.S., the fan interest around the sport as a whole is currently higher than it has been in recent years. While a movement to become the next global soccer club wont happen overnight, AS Roma is heading in the right direction toward gaining a bigger footprint in the U.S. Were confident that with all of these pieces coming together, were going to be a really successful brand and team in regards to reaching not only younger fans but fans of all ages, Zanzi said.
